N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the first time since renovations started, the historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse opened its doors to the public.
The open house allowed the public to see the newest renovations, learn of the courthouse committees vision, and how much work is left to be done. Historic Sites Manager with the State Historical Society of North Dakota Guinn Hinman stated that the storied past of the courthouse is really what inspired her to get involved with renovations.
Over 800 visitors toured the courthouse on Saturday. On Friday, May 13th, an entire room was dedicated to the late Mary Young. The ceremony was attended by local media as well as friends and family of Young. You can click here for audio and pictures from the dedication ceremony.
The courthouse is not yet open to the public as renovations continue.
