N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Saturday May 14th, the public will be allowed to see the first ever renovations to the oldest courthouse in the state.
The State Historical Society of North Dakota and 1883 Courthouse Committee will be opening their doors to the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse to see the progress of restoration. Historic Sites Manager Guinn Hinman stated that this will be a perfect opportunity for everyone to see the completed projects.
Hinman and other volunteers have done major renovation work to the courthouse, trying to restore it to its former glory with original tin plating and restored hardwood floors.
Hinman stated that the look their shooting for is around 1905. This open house will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM, but is not the official opening of the building. Hinman pointed out that the group still needs to raise some funds before they open the doors for good.
You can find more information, photos of restoration projects and contact the group by visiting their Facebook page. The open house will be free and open to everyone.
