CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven resigned his position on May 12th.

The 85 year-old Werkhoven says recent health issues convinced him to resign the office he’s held since 2010. He talked about that and other issues facing the city with Steve Urness in an interview on KOVC Radio.

Earlier this year 4 city employees: City Administrator David Schelkoph, Police Chief Fred Thompson, Police Lt. David Swenson and City Attorney Russ Myhre filed a grievance against Mayor Bob Werkhoven for creating a hostile work environment.

Werkhoven denied the allegations against by those city employees and said the grievance had nothing to do with his May 12th resignation as mayor of Valley City.
