N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Students and some faculty from the University of Jamestown will be embarking on the fifth interdisciplinary experiential learning trip to Chogoria, Kenya today.

Chief Information Officer Chris Hoke has established a blog that will constantly be updated with information from the trip, including updates and what the students will be working on. According to a blog post, 7 students and staff will be in Kenya for the 3 week service trip.

“This is an opportunity for the students to engage and participate in a new culture, to broaden their global perspectives, and to grow as worldly individuals. Our students will not only spend time exploring and learning about the country, but also working in a primary school and with a micro-finance firm.” Hoke writes in the blog.

The team will also be bringing several supplies including computer supplies, school supplies, balls, toys, stickers and more.

Staff members Tim Kachel, Chris Hoke, and Morgan Bossman will accompany students Alaina Brown, Brittany McIntyre, Abigail Landenberger, and Andrea Brenno. The 8,429 mile trip will begin Wednesday, May 11th.
