LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two teens were injured Monday after failing to yield at an intersection of Highway 20.
Sergeant Robert Kennedy with the North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that 18 year-old driver Kyler Westad and 16 year-old passenger Alexis Krantz were traveling east approaching the intersection of Highway 20 and 52nd St. NE. Westad failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by 44 year-old Paul McCarthy. Both Krantz and Westad were not wearing their seatbelts and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.
Krantz and Westad were later transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for further evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. Westad was charged with failure to yield. Both vehicles needed to be towed due to extensive damage.
