N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – VCHS golf team was at the Fargo North Invitational tournament this past Friday and Saturday at Edgewood Golf Course in Fargo.

The golf team placed 14th out of 16 teams. Shooting our best scores of the year. We shot a 361 on day 1 and a 362 on day 2. Once again Collin Hoss played some great golf! Day 1 Collin shot an 81 and day 2 he shot a 77 for a total of 158. Collin was tied for 10th place overall in the tournament. There were 96 competitors in the field from the EDC and western Minnesota.

Collin is one of the top players in the east region and can compete with the top level competition. The real encouraging scores from the weekend were from junior Levi Nix who shot his best round of the year day 1 with an 86 and a personal best in a varsity meet on day 2 with a 78. Levi played smart golf and learned from the few mistakes he made on day 1 and capitalized on some good chipping and putting to shoot 78 on day 2. Levi was tied for 24th place out of 96 competitors. The teams previous team best was 371. The 361 was 10 strokes better than our previous best. This invitational was a non EDC meet. 

Upcoming EDC meets are Tuesday, May 10th at Grand Forks Country club. Wednesday, May 18th at Crossroads Golf Course in Carrington which is the qualifying meet for the state tournament. Monday, May 23rd at Fargo Country Club. Thursday, May 26th at Bois De Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton. Then the Regional golf meet is also at Bois De Sioux on Wednesday, June 1st.
