N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commissioners met during regular session on Tuesday, May 3rd at the Stutsman County Courthouse.

Several items were addressed during the meeting including the approval of poll workers for the upcoming June primary.

Director of the Jamestown Safe Shelter Lynne Tally came before the commission to ask for their support as a sponsoring agent in building a new office for the organization. She stated that the building would assist them in serving those affected by domestic abuse.

The building would be procured by the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown and Tally mentioned that an anonymous donor would be giving $500,000 towards the project.

The County Commission approved to be a sponsoring agent for the project.

County Auditor Casey Bradley brought forth a request concerning the disbursement of camping funds. Bradley stated that the thought was to disburse those funds back to camps in a different way than before.

The commission unanimously approved of setting up a separate account for the future disbursement of funds.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser gave his monthly report to the board as well. He stated that final numbers from 2015 will be given at the next meeting in June. He also reported that he and Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger would be traveling to Texas with the Stutsman County K-9 for training this month.

The final issue discussed during the meeting was one of a gun range located near a property owned by Ron and Donna Lindberg of Jamestown. They brought up concerns with the range located roughly 150 feet from their property. The reported that the issue has been brought up with the Jamestown City Council and that they have not considered legal action yet. Both the County and City have agreed to look further into the issue.
