N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Classes are winding down, students are thinking of summer plans, and the University will be completely empty. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be busy.

The University of Jamestown is currently in the middle of several renovation projects and new construction on the campus. A planned $60 million campaign is underway to build needed facilities, grow the endowment, fund scholarships, support the faculty, and creating new programs. Vice President for Planning and Administration Tom Heck says this has been one of the busiest times for the University.

Heck stated that Wilson Arena is receiving a new locker room upgrade for the 2016-2017 year when the University has its first ever club hockey program.

Another project that the University will have over the course of the summer is adding on to the Sorkness Center for the future Engineering Major that was announced last year.

Another big project for the University will be updating their on campus convenience store to go along with the newly announced food service company Sodexo.

Heck mentioned that all of these projects are just the focus of this summer. There will be many future projects in the next few years including a new entrance to the Sorkness Center, adding more classroom space and the potential for a new student dormitory.
