(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School baseball team took two tough losses in Class B Region I play on Monday at Townsend Field in LaMoure.

Oakes had a 6-o lead after two innings, and were up 8-3 going to the bottom of the fourth inning before the Loboe bats came alive. It started in the fourth, with a three-run home run from Quinn Alo and the inning featured an addition four hits.
In the final three innings, the Loboes (2-4 Class B Region I) had six runs and seven hits. Oakes had solid games at the plate from Kollen Knutson (three hits, a double and three runs scored) and Michael Kelly (two double, two hits, six RBI) in the loss.
Drew Theilges earned the win on the mound with seven strikeouts.

Kelly’s solo home run and 12 strikeouts were not enough to take down the first-place Falcons. EMV (5-1) was lead by Jorun Hamre, with a complete game on the rubber, striking out seven, and offensively, falling just a single short of the cycle.
Kelly took the loss, and now has a total of 55 strikeouts in 33 innings of work.
