(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School Speech team had a top five finish at the State Class B Speech Tournament at Mandan High School Saturday.
Hope Osborn was a State Champion in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading and took fifth in Impromptu, with her sister Faith placing third in Speech To Entertain and seventh in Impromptu. Seth Schaefer and Trace Beeth were fifth in Humorous Duo.
All participants qualified from one of ten regional tournaments or at an invitational tournament held during the season.
Richardton-Taylor took first place with 73 points; Carrington was awarded second with 61 points; Bowman County was third with 42 points; Enderlin/Maple Valley was fourth with 35 points; Oakes was fifth with 26 points.
