N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Airport is nearing the end of their 2-year contract with SkyWest Airlines in June and has recently opened for new bids of service.

Airport Manager Samuel Seafeldt and Board President Jim Boyd spent the better part of April asking businesses and local congressional councils to write letters of support to renew SkyWest. Seafeldt pointed out that they had received two bids for service; one from SkyWest and the other from Great Lakes. He mentioned that him and Boyd have been collecting letters of support for the return service of SkyWest.

According to Seafeldt, letters of recommendation play heavily into the DOT’s selection of airline service. Seafeldt stated that they have received a lot of letters of support from the community of Jamestown as well.

The decision by the DOT will be announced roughly two months before the current contract is up. Seafeldt said they expect a final decision real soon.

When the announcement is made, it will be reported by NewsDakota.com.
