N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Spring has sprung and along with it comes the imminent threat of severe weather through the summer.
Governor Jack Dalrymple has proclaimed the week of April 25th as “Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week” for the entire state of North Dakota. The week is designed to remind the public of the dangers associated with severe summer weather. Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist reports that some weather individuals can see will vary.
Bergquist pointed out that tornadoes come to mind when discussing severe weather in North Dakota and recalls the biggest tornado on record in the state that occurred near Medina in 2006.
Berguist stated that the best thing individuals can do is just prepare for anything.
Several tests will be conducted statewide to make sure all emergency equipment and sirens are working properly.
