N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is investigating an accident involving a BNSF train and a wheelchair occupant at the crossing of Second Avenue.
Initial reports say a westbound train was traveling at a low rate of speed when a 60 year-old wheelchair occupant crossed in front of the train and was struck. The man was transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. He was conscious and moving when ambulance crews arrived.
An update later Thursday afternoon reported that the man was air lifted to a Fargo hospital. His name is still being withheld pending notification of family members.
Stutsman County Dispatch reported that crossings at 2nd Avenue, 7th Avenue and 3rd Street were closed for around 3 hours while the scene was investigated.
