CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Barnes County officials say they have offered the job of Social Services Director to a woman from another county who has 30 years of experience.

Barnes County Commissioners Mike Metcalf and John Froehlich say more details of the new director will be announced during the Social Services board meeting on April 29th at 9am.

Commissioner Froehlich says the new director’s benefits package will transfer over to Barnes County, pending board approval.

Commissioner Cindy Schwehr says state law plays a heavy role on how the county has to select a social services director.

Former Director Rick Bolonchuk came under fire in January after some employees accused him of creating a hostile work environment. He resigned February 17th.  He said a majority of the staff are very professional. He described the situation as terribly dysfunctional and unprofessional.

But Schwehr says it appears those concerns have been addressed.

Val Burchill is serving as the interim director until the board officially announces who the new director is on April 29th.
