N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Everyone is being invited to an EMCOM drill to be held at the Whitestone Battlefield State Monument May 27th through the 30th.
According to Dickey County Emergency Manager Charlie Russell, the drill will help relearn field communications equipment and skills as well as provide training to individuals on how to deploy and operate equipment under field conditions.
There will also be a first ever ham radio poker run on Saturday, May 28th at 10 AM. Russell stated that people will get to test radio-mapping and handling ham radio.
“The 5 or so mile course contains a skill stations to be completed before they can move on. The regional amateur radio emergency folks start setting up Friday and will try to contact from this locations as many towns and cities with EOC’s as possible in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and where ever else (world-wide) we can contact over the course of the event.” Russell stated in a press release.
