(NewsDakota.com) For the second consecutive Tuesday contest, the Oakes High School baseball team only managed one run and one hit, as the Northern Cass Jaguars earned their first Region I victory of the season with an 8-1 win.

The hometown Jaguars (1-2 Class B Region I) were able to score runs in the first and second innings, along with the fourth and fifth innings. However, Northern Cass really broke it open in the sixth inning by scoring a total of four on three hits.

Oakes managed just one run on a hit off of Dawson Hayden who earned the win, striking out six. Lucas Lautt took the loss for the Tornadoes, going four innings, allowing four runs on five hits, while striking out just one. Ethan Zetocha had the lone hit, registered in the fifth, which scored Brody Bartholomew.

Oakes (2-2) is back home for their next game; against Kindred/Richland on Saturday April 23 at 1 p.m. The game will not be broadcast on KDDR due to the Live Radio Auction.
