(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown baseball team needed a big lift in the fourth game of their weekend series with Viterbo, after dropping two of the first three, and they got it in a big way from senior Dylan Deavy. He was nearly perfect allowing just one hit and two other base runners over seven spectacular innings and the Jimmies won 7-0.
Jamestown lost the first game on Monday, 8-2 after John Costello yielded just two hits over six strong innings to the Jimmies. Tyler Wiwchar clubbed a home run and the Jimmies added a run without a hit thanks to some walks and sloppy fielding, but that was all they could muster against Costello.
The Jimmies sent Deavy to the mound in game two and the senior was lights out. He struck out seven and allowed just the one hit. Wiwchar hit his second long-ball of the day and it was all Deavy would need.
Jamestown added six runs in the fifth when they finally broke through against starter Brian McGill to win the game 7-0.
It was the 40th win of the season for the Jimmies who will back in action on Wednesday in Redfield, SD against Dakota Wesleyan and you can hear that game on ESPN Jamestown. First pitch is at 3pm.
