(NewsDakota.com) Senior Michael Kelly fanned another 11 batters, bringing his season total to 28 in two games. However, the Oakes High School baseball team managed just one hit on Monday, and Central Cass held off the Tornadoes 5-2 in a Class B Region I contest.
The hometown Squirrels (2-0 Region I) scored the first run of the game in the first inning, and added another two in the fourth, after a two-out two-RBI triple from shortstop Garrett Prante.
Oakes (1-1) was able to pull within a run in the bottom of the inning, but made it no closer. The lone Tornado hit came from Matt Kuipers in the top of the fifth.
