N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Lifesmarts team had the honor of representing the state of North Dakota during the National Competition of Lifesmarts in Denver, Colorado over the weekend.

The team, coached by High School Social Studies Teacher Marchel Krieger, was tested in personal finance, health and safety, technology and many other categories. The team consisted of captain Courtnay Kiecker, Colton Carson, Cris Dupre, Leo Fremgen and Julia Shirley.

Team captain Courtnay Kiecker stated that being on that big of a stage was a rush for the group.

Kiecker reported that the group started out the competition shaky, but found their footing as they climbed from near the bottom of the 33 team competition to the 9th overall team in the quarterfinals.

Kiecker said it’s been an honor to be able to represent the state at that level of competition.

The winner of the competition will be announced later this week. Jamestown’s final placement will be announced at that time.
