N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure County Commissioners have joined in with neighboring counties Dickey, Logan and McIntosh in signing a fire emergency and burn ban.
The LaMoure County declaration prohibits all open burning on days when the Fire Danger Rating is Very High, Extreme and/or a Red Flag Warning is issued. The US Drought Monitor has portions of those four counties in the “Moderate Drought Intensity” so there will be elevated Fire Danger.
The burn ban in those counties do allow for open burning on days when the Fire Danger Rating is Low, Moderate, or High. Burn bans between each county vary slightly, so call your local officials if you have questions. All open burning must be attended to and supervised at all times.
LaMoure County Emergency Manager Kim Robbins reports that the Fire Danger Rating is typically issued by 6AM daily at www.nd.gov/des or www.lamourecountynd.com. For any questions, contact your local Emergency Manager or Fire Department Chief.
