JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a new high risk sex offender that has moved into the city of Jamestown.
59 year-old Walter Joseph Grant Jr. now lives at 517 4th Street NW. He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee. Mr. Grant was charged with Gross Sexual Imposition in 1989 when he lured an adult female to his apartment and tired to rape her.
Mr. Grant was charged with Sexual Assault in 2005 when he offered a woman a ride when he began to sexually assault her. He eventually punched her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness. When she awoke, she found herself in a strange house being raped by Grant. The victim was later able to escape from Grant and fled.
Mr. Grant is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation. He is not wanted by police at this time. The notification from the department is meant to inform individuals. Any attempt to use the information to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender will result in immediate prosecution.
