N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The state’s first ever Seed Catalog has opened in Jamestown on Tuesday, March 29th.

According to the James River Valley Library System, the seed library is a project of the Jamestown Community Gardens and the James River Valley Library System, Stutsman County branch. Other programs including Alpha Industries and members of the Master Gardeners Community.

“Since opening, 81 community residents have checked out vegetable seed packets ready for planting. A library card is not needed,” said Development Director Bill Kennedy.

The library will have individuals fill out a questionnaire to determine the amount and type of seeds needed to plan for next year’s seed library and garden season. Kennedy points out that carrots, radishes, corn, onions and herbs have been the most popular.

Laura Miller and Laurie Podoll were responsible for gathering and organizing the seeds for the seed library.
