N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Airport is seeking support from community leaders and businesses to let the Department of Transportation know who they want providing service to Jamestown.
Airport Manager Samuel Seafeldt pointed out that the airport is looking for letters of support showing who they want providing service to the community. Seafeldt stated that right now, there are two bids submitted. One is from the current provider SkyWest Airlines and the other is from Great Lakes, the service that was replaced by SkyWest.
“We run contract competition every two years and right now, the two bids we’ve received are being discussed. The bids are similar in costs, but the positive support that we’ve gotten from having Skywest is too big to ignore.” Seafeldt stated.
The Jamestown Regional Airport is strongly recommending the selection of SkyWest because of their excellent performance for the past two years. Seafeldt pointed out that the decision by the DOT will rely heavily on letters of support and input.
The Essential Air Service two year contract with the airline will expire on June 30th, 2016. Seafeldt estimates that the decision will come possibly later this month.
