N.D. – Valley City youth wrestling program had 20 wrestlers compete in the North Dakota State Folkstyle Individual Tournament held Saturday, March 26th at the Bismarck Civic Center. Express Wrestling of VC placed 6 wrestlers into the finals and came away with 4 champion’s en-route to a team title in the “small club division” and 5th overall.

Winning Individual championships were Ryer Muske, Koltyn Grebel, Ethan Langemo, and Christian Beutler.

Ryer Muske 3rd grader (Bantam 75+ lbs) had 3 pins before pinning Gus Werremeyer from Fargo in the championship final, its Ryer’s 2nd championship in 3 years.

Koltyn Grebel a 3rd grader (intermediate 60lbs) pinned the first 4 of his opponents then defeated Cade Nieuwsma 8-2 in the final, this was Koltyn’s 2nd tittle in a row and his 3rd in four years.

Christian Beutler 4th grader (Intermediate 120+ lbs) pinned all 3 of his opponents including

Ryan Garfield of Rolla in 0:15, this was Christian’s 2nd championship in 3 years.

Ethan Langemo a 5th grader (Novice 140 lbs) pinned both his opponents including Tristan Pekas from Hettenger in the title match. This was Ethan’s 2nd championship.

Also placing in the top 8 were:  Will Schwehr runner-up/2nd place at intermediate 112, Chase Coghlan runner up/ 2nd place at Sub Bantam 55, Ethan Miller 3rd place (novice 85), Broden Muske 3rd place(novice 100), Trevor Breske 3rd place (Novice 140+) and Micheal Beutler 6th place (novice 105).

Other individuals participating : Jacob Simpson, Jeremy Hatcher, Bennett Rogelstad, Austin Rogelstad, Koye Grebel, James Schwehr, Evan Mielke, Tyson Hovland, Jonah Schuldeisz, and Alex Rogelstad.

The club also competed in the State dual team tournament but came up short from placing going 3-2 with wins over Hazen, Harvey, and Dickinson and losses to Bismarck and Carrington. Express Wrestling of VC is coached by Tim Miller (head), Doug Muske, Todd Rogelstad, York Grebel, Rad Nicholson, Ryan Coghlan, Mark Miller, Matt Maresh, Nate Johnson, Chuck Mielke and Logan Erlandson.
