N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Representative Jessica Haak made the announcement today that U.S. Senators Heidi Heitkamp and Kristen Gillibrand will be holding a round table discussion on Friday, April 1st in Jamestown.

Heitkamp, Gillibrand and Haak will be meeting with families and community leaders at James River Family Fitness at 4 PM to discuss the senators’ Family Act.

“A strong federal paid family and medical leave policy would enable working families to get the paid leave they need to care for a newborn, a sick child, or an elderly parent.” Haak stated.

“About half of the private sector workforce in North Dakota can’t earn a single paid sick day to care for a loved one. And only about a third of North Dakota’s working adults are eligible, let alone able to afford unpaid leave.”

Guests of the table meeting include Executive Director of North Dakota Women’s Network Renee Stromme, President of North Dakota United Nick Archuleta, Verla Jung of Child Care Aware, Tammy Hoggarth with Community Action Region VI, and Courtney & Andrew Workman.

Haak points out that the discussion will be great for paid family leave and child care in the state and country. You can find more by clicking here.
