N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Kiwanis Club is holding an event on April 2nd to help support Project Ignite Light.

Project Ignite Light is a North Dakota-based non-profit that prepares and delivers “Bags of Hope” with blankets, pajamas, toothbrushes and other items to children at local Children’s Advocacy Centers. Children at the centers go through exams because of suspected sexual abuse, physical abuse or neglect. North Dakota has about 4,000 cases of abuse reported every year.

“Many times, these children have never worn new clothing or never owned a toothbrush. Our backpacks give these children dignity, security and hope,” said Fran Geisler, Jamestown resident and volunteer at Project Ignite Light.

To help the program, the Jamestown Kiwanis Club is seeking volunteers to assemble the fleece tie blankets. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to come help at 9:00 AM at Ave Maria Village on April 2nd.

“Kiwanis loves this project because it helps children. We also love it because anyone can help. Whether you’re a kindergartner or a great-grandma, you can contribute to the Project Ignite Light mission,” said Katie Ryan-Anderson, Jamestown Kiwanis president.
