Shape, age 59, of Litchville, ND died Friday, March 25, 2016 at her home in Litchville. Memorial Services will be conducted at 2PM Friday, April 1, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Litchville with Rev. Marcia Hegna officiating. Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM Thursday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Diane Kaye (McGuire) Shape passed away at her home with her 2 children, niece Jackie and sister Karen by her side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 4, 1956 in Valley City, ND to Wilbur and Lois (Miller) McGuire. She grew up on a farm north of Valley City and in grade school moved into Valley City, where she graduated from Valley City High School in 1974. Over the years she worked at the Valley City Times Record, the Litchville Bulletin, Litchville Enterprises, and served as a Tax Assessor. She was a 4-H leader for the Litchville Clovers, a member of ACT, a homemaker, a great cook, and a typical farm wife and mother. She married Dennis Shape March 3, 1979 and the couple made their home in Valley City until moving to a farm in 1985, and later into Litchville in the fall of 1995. Her hobbies included fishing, reading, driving her Ranger, gardening, and canning (which she shared with others).
Survivors include her two children, Maria (Luke) Marman, Beach, ND and Geoff (Amy) Shape, Litchville, ND; three grandchildren, Camden Parkhurst, Lydia Lee, and Clara Kaye Marman; two brothers, Dennis (Carol) McGuire, Pillsbury, ND and David (Julie) McGuire, Renton, WA; a sister, Karen (Delmar) Sailer, Stanton, ND; a brother-in-law, Chuck (Deb) Shape, Valley City, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Shape, Apr. 25, 2015, her parents Lois and Wilbur McGuire, a sister Mary Barnett, and a brother, Willie McGuire.
