N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The oldest courthouse in the state is beginning to look more like its original self.
The Stutsman County Courthouse is one of the most historical courthouses in the state and the discussion to make North Dakota a state happened there in 1889. Threatened with demolition in the 1980s, the States Historical Society helped the Courthouse Committee Friends Group save the 1883 courthouse.
Over a million dollars have been spent on the renovation of the exterior and the State Historical Society is hoping to raise more to finish the inside. An open house public viewing will be May 14th from 1 PM to 4 PM.
