MN. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liner track and field team competed at the Concordia Indoor meet on Friday, March 18th. Below is a recap on the meet for the Hi-Liners. 

Girls

Congratulations go to senior Brienne Roehrich, who set 2 personal records and two school records. Brienne placed sixth in the 55m, second in the 55m hurdles, and first in the triple jump. Her hurdle time moves her to first place overall for seniors and for all time top performers.

Close behind Brienne was freshman Becca Thompson, who placed fifth in the 55 hurdles and also broke into the record books. With her time, she is now third overall on the all-time top performer list. Becca also competed in the 200m and 400m dash.                                                                                                                                  

Senior Grace Ihry had outstanding performances in the long and triple jump. Grace placed fifth in the long jump and second in the triple jump. Grace also competed in the 55m and 200m dash.                        

Running well to begin the season was senior Mikaylah Ross, who placed second in the 3200m.  

In the shot put Kaylee Schlittenhart let the way with the top performance for the Hi-Liners, but also with a strong performance was Bree-Anna Kunze and

Tiffany Schneider who both set new personal records.

The girl’s team put in impressive performances for their first meet of the season. The Hi-Liners will be back in action two weeks when we travel to North Dakota State University for the Class A Indoor on Friday, April 1st.  

Boys

John Halgrimson was the boys top point earner with two third place finishes. John ran well to open the season in 55m and 200m races.  

Not far behind John in the 55m and 200m was Eli Allen, who was just shy of placing in both events, but was the second best performer of the day.  

Valley City entered three boy’s 4x200m relay teams, and the top performance was earned by Erik Milender, Anthony Capistran, Noah Plagens, and Nate Rodriguez.  

Jacob Berntson’s performance in the pole vault earned the only field event points on the day. Jacob finished seventh in the pole vault and also competed in the shot put.

The boy’s team displayed a lot of promise with their performances and placed 4th overall in the meet. The Hi-Liners will be back in action two weeks from now when they travel to North Dakota State University for the Class A Indoor on Friday, April 1st.
