N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An annual scholarship offered by Northern Plains Electric has been given to one Grace City senior.
Joseph Vollmer is a senior at Midkota Public School in Glenfield. He is the son of Veronica and Jason Vollmer of Grace City. Joseph has plans to study political science and American History with a goal to have a career in public service. Joseph is also active in Future Business Leaders of America, speech, student council and several sports teams.
Joseph was one of 25 other applicants who applied for the scholarship. Applicants applied by typing an essay on Northern Plains Electric Cooperative. You can read his full essay below.
Commitment is the state or quality of dedication toward a cause. This is a value that my local cooperative has with its customers surrounding communities. To explain, why Northern Plains Electric is so loyal to its customers, I will highlight three major areas that they are committed to. First is dedication to supplying customers and providing the best possible service. When the electricity goes down anywhere on their grid, they work frivolously to find and solve the problem, working day and night if that is what it takes. Compared to other companies, Northern Plains is by far the fastest at fixing any problems that might arise.
Even in rural area they will stop at nothing to make sure families get their power back up and running.
Then there is the community awareness they provide. Starting off at a young age, I can still remember the day they came to my elementary school to discuss electricity safety in a fun and educational way. Their teachings have show the community how important it is to be careful around electricity. Using this awareness, they have helped save lives, that could have been taken, if the education wasn’t endorsed.
Lastly are the outstanding customer services they maintain for everyone that might have a question. The question could be very simple or complex, no matter what a customer might ask there is always someone on the other line ready to help. They have helped my family significantly, with the revamping of our electrical supply from our old house to the new one we live in today. No matter what, they will always have their customers back in everything they do.
In conclusion, Northern Plains Electric is my electric cooperative and I’m proud to say that. From electric outages to customer service and everything in between, they are always there for their customers. I am proud to be supplied by Northern Plains because I believe there is no other company so committed to community.
