(NewsDakota.com) The District 6 regular season and post-season champions are moving on to next week’s State Class B Tournament after holding off the District 5 regular season and post-season champions; while the third place game of the Class B Region III tournament was won at the final horn Thursday at the Jamestown Civic Center.

3rd Place: South Border 68 Linton-Hazelton-Moffitt-Braddock 65

Matthew Rueb hit a three point basket with no time left to give the Mustangs the win over the Lions in one of the most competitive third place games in the last few years.

The Mustangs hit 11 of their 24 three point attempts, and were lead in scoring by Hunter Pinke with 26 points. Cole VanderLann had a team high 19 points for the Lions, who were unable to pick up the 700th career win for head coach Dan Carr.

Championship: Strasburg-Zeeland 49 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpeiler 46

The Clippers managed to have a seven point lead in the second half, before the Rebels responded with a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game. In the fourth, Strasburg/Zeeland pulled out to a nine point lead and EKM was not able to close the gap entirely.

Brody Nieuwsma, who was named the Region III Senior Athlete Of The Year had a team high 23 points for the victors, who picked up their 20th win as they head to Minot and the State Class B Boys Basketball Tournament next week.

Conner Entzi and Lane Hanson each had 13 in the loss for the Rebels. EKM head coach Kevin Strobel was named the Region III Coach Of The Year.
