(NewsDakota.com) – The ole cliche is that it’s tough to beat a team three times in once season and that’s exactly what Bismarck High was able to do to end the Jamestown boys basketball season in a state qualifier. The Demons ended their state tournament drought after just one season knocking off the Jays 64-58 at the Bismarck Events Center.
The Demons lead by 11 with about seven minutes to go and Jamestown tore off an 11-2 run to pull within two. However, the offense got stuck in neutral after that run. Bismarck, which was held to just those two points for four minutes, were able to seal up the game from the free throw line.
Brayden Thomas scored a game-high 37 points to lead the Demons. He shot an incredible 10/12 from the field in the second half.
Noah Wanzek wrapped up his career with a 20-point output, but it was Tanner Lunzman’s 24 that paced the Jays. Jamestown lost Jake Ruether less than a minute into the game and he didn’t return.
