N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The United Sportsmen of North Dakota Jamestown Chapter have been focusing their recent efforts on building a new gun range for Jamestown and they will continue doing so tonight.
In 2015, the Pipestem Rifle Range was shut down by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers due to certain incidents. President of the club Merele Weatherly stated that the group would rely on area organizations and businesses in order to bring a gun range back. He stated that the biggest speed bump would be land acquisition.
During a meeting in December 2015, several committees were created to focus on separate areas of the new proposed range. Curt Kaseman and Jim Weight have been working on different measures that need to be taken in order to make the range possible.
Jim Weight stated that a name has already been selected for the corporation.
The club has another open meeting tonight to discuss the range and what needs to happen to make it a reality. The meeting will be at 7:00 PM at the North Dakota Game & Fish Office near Jamestown.
