(NewsDakota.com) The 2015-16 season came to an end Saturday for the Valley City High School Girls Basketball team with a 61-33 loss at Fargo South in an Eastern Dakota Conference Play-In game.

The Hi-Liners only trailed by 10 points at the halftime break, but the Bruins started the second half on a 6-0 run and never looked back. Valley City had no answer when it came to attempting to contain seniors Emily Stroup and Maddie Erickson, who scored 19 and 18 points respectfully. The visiting Hi-Liners had a team high eight points from sophomore Makenzie Pederson.

With the win, the Bruins improve to 10-12, and advances to the quarterfinal round of the EDC tournament on Tuesday March 1 at Fargo Davies High School.

Valley City’s season ends at 0-21.
