N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started out as a dream turned into reality for a couple of North Dakota college students.

University of Jamestown student Colt Mavity led a charge of students to help bring water to Flint, Michigan, a community currently in a water shortage crisis. Mavity and company left for Flint on February 19th and purchased the water just before arriving.

A GoFundMe page was created and raised $1,540 to purchase water for the residents. According to Mavity, a total of $2,125 was raised in both GoFundMe and cash donations.

“I believe we were truly able to show what potential us everyday people are capable of, and you all have been such an inspiration I cannot thank you enough!” Mavity said in an update.

The group donated a total of 13,248 bottles of water to the Flint, Michigan residents and has announced that they will be making a return trip in the next few weeks. They will be seeking volunteers and say anyone can join them to make a convoy in their second journey.
