(NewsDakota.com) – Entering the regular season finale  against Mandan Tuesday night at Jerry Meyer Arena both Blue Jay teams could win and lock up the No. 5-seed in next weeks West Region Tournament in Bismarck. That’s exactly what they both did; the girls won 62-50 and the boys came away with an 80-78 victory.

GBB: Jamestown 62, Mandan 50

Neither offense was able to get much going early, but Jamestown took a 24-20 lead into the locker room and came out with a 10-0 run to take control. The Braves freshman duo of Kennedy Harris and Megan Zander shot the Braves back into the game with a combined 31 points.

Megan Gaffaney took control down the stretch allowing Jamestown to stretch the lead back to a comfortable margin.

Jamestown will play Legacy in the WDA Tournament next Thursday at 3:45pm at the Bismarck Event Center.

BBB: Jamestown 80, Mandan 78

Jamestown lead by nine in the closing minutes, but Mandan got back-t0-back three-point plays from Jeremy Friesz to hang around. Later, the Jays turned it over pulling the Braves within one.

Following a one-of-two trip to the line from Noah Wanzek, who had 26 to lead Jamestown, Gabe Meschke’s game-winning three-point attempt rattled out at the buzzer.

Trae Steckler lead Mandan with 37. Jamestown will play Dickinson at 4:45 in Bismarck next Thursday.
