S.D. – Georgia Williams of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected to this week’s North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week, the fourteenth edition of the weekly honor was announced Monday by the conference office.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week Georgia Williams – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’10” – Junior – Guard – Townsville, Australia – Williams averaged 19 points, 4.5 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 1 block per game as Valley City State (N.D.) went 2-0 record for the week. She scored 23 points, dished out 8 assists (which led to 17 points), grabbed 5 rebounds and stole the ball 4 times in 82-74 road victory at Mayville State (N.D.). She followed up with 15 points and two steals in 70-43 home victory over Presentation (S.D.). For the week, Williams shot 15-of-24 from the field (62.5 percent) and converted 5-of-6 free-throws.

Jamestown (N.D.), ranked No. 8 in the latest NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, wrapped up its regular-season schedule on a 12-game winning streak after posting a 2-0 record for the week. The Jimmies defeated Dakota State (S.D.) by the score of 71-45 on Feb. 17 and rallied back for an 81-79 road thriller at Mayville State (N.D.) on Feb. 20.
Valley City State (N.D.) also went 2-0 record for the week, extending their winning streak to four games. The Vikings defeated the Comets 82-74 on Feb. 13 and concluded the regular-season schedule with a 70-43 home rout over Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 17.
Dickinson State (N.D.) – ranked No. 25 in the national coaches’ poll – finished out their regular-season schedule with a 2-0 record after defeating the Saints 80-74 on Feb. 17 and Dakota State 87-63 on Feb. 20.
Viterbo (Wis.) split a pair of games last week. The V-Hawks defeated Waldorf (Iowa) in the NSAA conference action on Feb. 17 by the score of 70-52. Viterbo fell to Mount Mercy (Iowa) 74-51 in their home regular-season finale on Feb. 20.
The Warriors lost their home regular-season finale, losing to No. 4 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) 94-72 on Feb. 20.
Looking Ahead This Week
Jamestown (N.D.) will be the top seed when the 2016 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women’s Postseason Tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The No. 8-ranked Jimmies went undefeated in the league play with a 12-0 record and 26-4 overall record for the season, currently on a 12-game winning streak.
Number two seed belongs to Dickinson State (N.D.), who ranks No. 25 in the national poll with an overall record of 21-7 and 9-3 NSAA conference record. Valley City State (N.D.) is the No. 3 seed (17-9 overall record, 10-3 NSAA record), followed by No. 4 seed Mayville State (N.D.) (15-12, 6-7 NSAA).
The top four seeds all host the first round games.
Dakota State (S.D.) is the fifth seed for the conference tournament with an overall record of 14-15 and 6-7 NSAA. Presentation (S.D.) will be the No. 6 seed (6-19, 3-10 NSAA), while Viterbo (Wis.) holds the No. 7 seed with an overall record of 6-22 and 2-7 NSAA. Waldorf (Iowa) is the No. 8 seed (2-23, 0-11 NSAA).
The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, at the highest two remaining seeds with the game times being determined after the first round on Wednesday. The NSAA Championship game is set for Sunday at the highest remaining seed.
The NSAA Postseason Tournament Champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Tournament on March 9-15 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
