N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Communications Center has released their statistics on calls for service per agency in 2015.
According to Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist, the Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department, and Jamestown Fire Department called in the most in 2015. Bergquist stated that calls for the Jamestown Police Department were down because of a lower number of patrols than in the past.
Mayor Katie Andersen mentioned that Police Chief Scott Edinger had also tightened up what constituted a call-for-service. Jerry also stated that the total calls to 911 in 2015 were down compared to 2014 and the number of calls coming in from cell phones was on the rise.
Bergquist says that becomes an issue because when a calls come in to the center, there are generally multiple calls and the location tracking makes it difficult to pinpoint the right location of the incident.
In 2015, the Jamestown Police Department submitted 16,181 calls for service, which is slightly lower than the year before. The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department had 8,767 calls and the Jamestown Fire Department had 2,024, both slightly higher than in 2014.
