(NewsDakota.com) – Last time the Jamestown High basketball teams went to Century, they lost the two games of the doubleheader by a combined 109 points. Thursday night in the Capital City was not a repeat of 2015. Although, Century won both games, the Jays battled in both games until the end.
GBB: #2 Century 57, Jamestown 43
The Patriots were without senior Katie Scherr, but the rest of the Century roster handcuffed the Blue Jays on the offensive end. Jamestown had most of their success offensively when Regan Dennis was out of the Pats, she spent a few portions of the game on the bench in foul trouble and did foul out with a few minutes remaining. Dennis lead Century with 12.
Megan Gaffaney had 13 to lead three players in double figures. Taylor Schmeichel, in her first game back, had 10 points as did Bailey Lamp.
BBB: #1 Century 74, Jamestown 67
The Jays were right there with Century into the final minutes. Tanner Lunzman missed a left corner triple with about 90 seconds left that would have cut the Pats lead to five. After that miss, Century went to the line and buried their free throws to put the game away.
Josh Schulz continued his hot-streak with 18 points and Noah Wanzek added 16.
The Jays will finish up their regular season with two more games; Saturday vs. Dickinson and Tuesday vs. Mandan.
