CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The Director of Barnes County Social Services Rick Bolonchuk has handed in his resignation.

Bolonchuk was under fire after some employees accused him of creating a hostile work environment one month ago. Bolonchuk served as the Social Services Director for 7 months before stepping down on February 16th.

During a special meeting on February 19th the Social Services board appointed Val Burchill to be the interim director until another director is hired.

Burchill is a 40 year veteran of the social services department. She says the department is working to fill two positions. A family services specialist and a homemaker position.
