(NewsDakota.com) For the second year in a row, the Jamestown High School boys hockey team will be facing elimination in the second round of the West Region Tournament after losing in the opening round yet again to Mandan.
The Braves scored their first of their goals from center ice, and put up two more in the opening 17 minutes; adding one more in the third for the 4-0 win.
Jamestown had their opportunities; especially in the second period with a 5-on-3 for the better part of a full minutes, but junior goaltender Sawyer Schmidt shut down all 20 shots he faced thought the course of the game.
Sophomore Matthew Schneider started for the Jays, but lasted just the first period before being replaced by senior Zach Hanson for the second and third periods. Schneider had five saves on eight shots, Hanson registered 27 saves on 28 shots.
