CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Your Farmers Union Insurance of Valley City is 8th grader Callen Oestern. 

Oestern has had an outstanding EDC wrestling tournament and punched his ticket to the state wrestling tournament this weekend at the FargoDome. Callen entered the EDC tournament unseeded at 126lbs and had an impressive win over his opponent from Fargo North in the wrestle backs needing a win to punch his ticket to state. 

The wrestler from Fargo North had pinned Callen earlier in the season. Callen was on the attack early and earned a first period pin. Callen was not satisfied with just qualifying for state as he also pinned his opponent from Grand Forks Central to finish in 7th place. 

Callen has a great work ethic and all his hard work is beginning to pay off. Callen is a three sport athlete for the Hi-Liners also participating in Baseball and Football.  Callen is an Academic All-State wrestler and a member of the VCHS honor roll.
