CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Oakes Public School Superintendent Josh Johnson was selected to become the seventh superintendent of the Valley City Public School District on February 9th.
Johnson has been the superintendent in Oakes for three years. Prior to that, he was a principal in the Devils Lake School district and he also served briefly as a principal for the Barnes County North School district.
Johnson takes over the reins as superintendent in Valley City on July 1st following the retirement of superintendent Dean Koppelman. Johnson talked about his philosophy and the excitement behind accepting the position in Valley City with reporter Steve Urness.
Under the agreement, Johnson accepted a three year contract with an annual salary of $148,000 in the first year, followed by a salary of $154,000 in the second year and his salary moves up to $162,000 in the third year.
Meanwhile, the Oakes Public School Board started the process to search for a new superintendent for the Oakes Public School District.
