(NewsDakota.com) – The second-to-last regular season home game for the University of Jamestown basketball teams was played Wednesday night at the Jamestown Civic Center as they welcomed in Dakota State. The Jimmie women took the opening game, 67-42. The men weren’t as fortunate, Trojan big man Kyle Kilgore poured in 32 for a 85-77 win.
WBB: #8 Jimmies 67, Dakota State 42
Even when the shots aren’t falling, the Jimmies are playing defense at a high-level to fall back on. DaSU ran up 101 points on Saturday in a loss to Mayville State, but were held to just 42 against the stifling defense of Jamestown. The Lady T’s turned it over 27 times, including 16 in the first half.
Jessica Buck continued her stellar season with 19 points and nine rebounds. Buck is 4th all-time on the Jimmie scoring list and with 11 points she would move into third. She would likely need some big nights and a long national tournament run to catch Kathi Fischer for 2nd.
Jamestown travels to Valley City State on Saturday at 4pm.

There continues to be no rhyme or reason to the way the North Star has played out on the men’s side. It’s a bunch of good teams who are beating up on each other and could potentially cost the league two bids to the national tournament.
Kilgore couldn’t be stopped, the Dakota State big man poured in 32 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Even Jamestown shooting 14-for-28 from beyond the arc couldn’t offset the night from Kilgore.
Dakota State mixed Kilgore’s inside presence with nine triples of their own. Ian Barse put up 25, including a run of 16 straight early in the second half.
Brequan Tucker lead the Jimmies with 22. He currently sits 5th all-time on the Jimmies scoring list, but is just 124 points behind Beau Hensel’s 1715 at the top. Tucker would need to average 20.7 points per game the rest of the way to become the school’s all-time leading scoring.
The Jimmies travel to battle No. 20 Bellevue on Saturday.
