CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) A list of candidates to become the next superintendent of the Valley City Public School district was narrowed down to four.

School board chairperson Joyce Braunagel says one woman and three men are the finalist. They include: Oakes Public Schools superintendent Josh Johnson, Harvey superintendent Daniel Stutlien, Dr. Viola LaFontaine from Williston and Ada, Minnesota Public Schools superintendent Mike Kolness. 

She says the board will conduct interviews of the four candidates February 3-5. The interviews will be open to the public and the days of these interviews will be released later. The selection of the next superintendent will be announced in mid-February.

Superintendent Dean Koppelman is retiring at the end of the school year after serving the district for 18 years.
