Betty L. Schlecht, 68, Jamestown, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at her home in Jamestown, ND.

Betty Lou Rithmiller was born October 10, 1947 at Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of Daniel Rithmiller and Viola (Jerke) Rithmiller .She received her elementary education at Monango and attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND.

She and Roy Schlecht were married January 11, 1971 at LaMoure and made their home in Kulm, ND where he worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 40 years, and she at the Kulm grocery store; he retired in 1990. They moved to Jamestown in 1996 where she worked at County Market until 2011 as a cashier. Following the death of her husband August 18, 2013 she has continued to reside in Jamestown. She recently worked at the Hugo’s grocery store in Jamestown.

She was member of First Congregational Church in Kulm, ND. She enjoyed playing Bingo, the holidays, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, 2 daughters, Julie (Jerome Goebel) Brandner, Wishek, ND, and Amy (Dustin) Carlson, Edgeley, ND; 1 son, Thomas Schlecht, Jamestown, ND; 1 step son, Morgan (Valerie) Schlecht, Watertown, SD; 8 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Peggy Wetzel and Pamela (Zeke) Waldner, all of Oakes, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Dennis and Bob, and an infant brother, James. Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Ray DeLauier officiating.

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
