N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——The Carrington girl’s basketball team outscored Oakes 21-2 in the third quarter and went on to defeats the Tornadoes 50-20. The Cardinals held Oakes to 8 first half points but had there own offensive struggles in the first half scoring 17 points.

Sophomore guard Emerson Hoornaert scored a season high (game high) 15 points to pace the Cardinal scoring attack. Hoornaert also hauled in a team high 8 rebounds, grabbed 4 steals, and dished out 2 assists. Backcourt teammate Haley Hewitt added 7 points, 4 steals, and a game high 5 assists. Abigail Jarrett picked up a game high 6 steals, 5 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and added 3 assists. Kauri Hochhalter tied Hoornaert with a game high 8 rebounds and added 6 points. Ann Endres added 8 points in the win.

Bella Hansen and Nicole Schmitz scored 6 points each to lead the Tornadoes scoring. Carrington improved to 9-4 0verall and 3-2 in District 5 play, while the Tornadoes dropped to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in district 5. The Cardinals will travel to Steele on Saturday to play Kidder County at 3:30. The game will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK and also at www.newsdakota.com   Pregame will start around 3:15.
