N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Assistant State’s Attorney Troy LeFevre has tossed his hat into the ring for the Southeast District judge seat currently held by Judge Thomas Merrick.

LeFevre announces his intentions after it was reported that Judge Merrick would not be seeking re-election. LeFevre said he had no intention to run if Merrick was seeking re-election. LeFevre got the idea to run for a judgeship after being a finalist for an open judgeship in Valley City.

LaFevre has been an Assistant State’s Attorney since 2006. He and other candidates running in the primary must submit a petition containing at least 300 qualified signatures from North Dakota electors.
