CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liners started the second half on a 10-3 run and trimmed Devils Lake’s lead to 8 points with 15:23 remaining in the game, but it wouldn’t be enough as the fifth ranked Firebirds won 81-57 on Monday night. 

Zach Dahlen scored a game high 29 points for Devils Lake (7-3 overall 9-0 EDC), while Jacob Mertens added another 16 points in an Eastern Dakota Conference contest. 

Dalton Ondracek led the Hi-Liners (5-6 overall, 3-6 EDC) with 14 points in the game. 

Valley City hits the road for their next game against the Fargo North Spartans on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
