CITY (NewsDakota.com) In their first year as a co-operative in boys basketball, the Milnor/North Sargent Bulldogs won the 2016 Barnes County Tournament on Saturday in a Championship bout that needed two extra four minute sessions.

7th place: Sargent Central 52, Barnes County North 43

The Cadets used a 17-5 third quarter to pull away from the Bison to take seventh place, along with shooting 10 percent better from the floor.

Drew Wittich had 18 points for the victors, while Brook Bergh scored 14 points to go along with 14 rebounds. Allen Contreras had his second double-double of the tournament for Barnes County North with 22 points and 18 rebounds.

5th place: Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 71, Griggs County Central 58

The Spartans converted on almost 55 percent from the floor and had three players score in double figures to take the consolation championship over the Cougars.

Ethan Brown finished with a game high 33 points, Hunter Huschka added 14 points and Parker Stein contributed 11 points. Rylan Briss had 18 points in the loss.

3rd place: Maple Valley 46, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion 43

In the lowest scoring game of the day, neither team managed to eclipse 40 percent shooting, but the Raiders ability to convert slightly better on free throws helped them finish in third place against the defending tournament champions.

Jesse Johnson had 15 points for Maple Valley. The Loboes were lead by Drew Thielges with 20 points.

Championship: Milnor/North Sargent 82, Enderlin 77 (2 OT)

The Championship game had all the makings of an exciting contest, and it certainly lived up to the pre-game hype.

The Bulldogs had an eight point lead at intermission, before the Eagles, lead by Chance Bye connecting on six of his eight three point attempts, allowed Enderlin to claw their way back. In the end, MNS outscored Enderlin 9-4 in double-overtime to win the championship.

Jacob Hanson scored 28 points for the champions; Bye finished with 21 for the Eagles.
